Woodfin's first artificial surf wave on the French Broad, opening 2026. Live flow from the same gauge as the city run.
Live flow is confirmed from the French Broad at Asheville gauge. A surf-condition verdict will ship after the as-built wave is verified by local play-boaters and the Woodfin project.

Named for Taylor Hunt, an expert paddler who died in a whitewater accident in 2015. His family has helped lead and fund the project since its start.
This is an intermediate-to-advanced surf feature. Serious water — not a casual float. A bypass channel runs alongside for spectators and anyone not participating.
Design estimates (pre-opening)
Hydraulic modeling (S2o/Prague model) from SurferToday and the Woodfin project FAQ. Lower flows favor SUP and surf; higher flows shift toward advanced kayak freestyle. Not yet verified against the as-built wave — use as a rough guide only.
As-built verification with Woodfin project + local play-boaters needed before a live verdict ships. Tubers are excluded at all flow levels.
